Why runners usually make great employees

I shared this with a lot of you via Twitter the other day, but I felt it was good enough to post something here for those of you that do not do the Twitter thing.

Oliver Blanchard shared this information on his blog this past week and it really got me to thinking, does running really have an affect on an employee, or is it just characteristics of being a great employee that lends to someone who also is a runner.

  1. Great post! I truly believe that those who do distances are very dedicated - you have to be. Not to say we are better or worse than anyone else, but I think that we have definite personalities or we wouldn't be doing what we are doing. And yes, the people that I know that are distancers are very committed to work and have a strong personality there, too. We work hard. We play hard. But I couldn't imagine living life any other way! And I often write about the fact that I think we also live life to the fullest - we seize everything - that is part of our nature. Great post and thoughts!

  2. Very well put Kathy. Even the years that I wasn't running I know my thoughts and ways I did things both in life generally and at work reflected the runners personality. I consider myself a runner that took too many years off. :)
