I really wish I could be one of the ones that was nearing the taper, but The Publix Georgia Marathon was not in the cards for me once again this year. A bum calf has played it’s part with keeping me off of the roads and trails, and also from the starting line this coming March 18th when thousands of runners line the streets of Atlanta.
If you thought that it was all about the marathon you would be mostly right, but in case you were not aware, there is a lot more than just an enjoyable 26.2 mile stroll through the streets of Atlanta.
Some of this information can be found in the One Month Countdown Press Release with just a couple of the highlights here:
- Publix Georgia Marathon Health & Fitness Expo: Friday, March 16, 2012, noon to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, March 17, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at the Georgia World Congress Center.
- Cuties Luckie 5K and Kids Fun Run: Saturday, March 17, 2012 at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta’s Luckie Marietta District. The Cuties Luckie 5K will begin at 8 a.m., and the Kids Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m.
- Publix Georgia Marathon & Half Marathon: Sunday, March 18, 2012, starting at 7 a.m., from Marietta Street/CNN Building and finishing at Centennial Olympic Park.
In case you are not the lucky winner you will want to head over to the Publix Georgia Marathon Registration page and get registered. While checking out don’t forget to use the discount code 262QUEST to get an extra $10 discount off of the current price for the full or half marathon.
Are you running the race next month? If so let us know which one you are running, be it the Marathon, the Half Marathon, or the Cuties Luckie 5K and Kids Fun Run. If you are running any of the races that weekend good luck and enjoy the race!
