Publix Georgia Marathon Race Entry Winner

It is time for a winner to be chosen.  Who will be the lucky runner that gets to punish themselves for 26.2 miles of Atlanta roads for free?

The Publix Georgia Marathon will be here before you know it and the streets will be lined with runners from near and far ready to take on the downtown course and see if they have what it takes to finish victorious.

Win a Free Race Entry - The Publix Georgia Marathon

The Publix Georgia Marathon is just one month away and it is time to give away a race entry to someone that is ready and able to run either the 13.1 or 26.2 distance.  If you are in training and can be ready to run one of these distances in a months time continue to read as there is a very good chance that you will have an opportunity to run the 2013 Publix Georgia Marathon for free!

As I mentioned in my last post, I once again this year will not be able to run.  I have been running off and on, but continue to revisit the injury that has been haunting me for nearly two years now.  I am a stubborn runner, but I have finally, yes finally, made a physical therapy appointment for tomorrow.  I am ready to get this calf fixed for good so next year I can be talking about my training here on the blog.

Publix Georgia Marathon Race Entry Winner #4

The fourth and final race entry giveaway for the Publix Georgia Marathon has finished and it is time to pick the winner.  This one drew the most entries so it could really be anyone’s entry.  If you are not the lucky winner there is still time to get registered with a $10 discount using the code: 262QUEST when checking out.

The One Month Countdown

countdown1

I really wish I could be one of the ones that was nearing the taper, but The Publix Georgia Marathon was not in the cards for me once again this year.  A bum calf has played it’s part with keeping me off of the roads and trails, and also from the starting line this coming March 18th when thousands of runners line the streets of Atlanta.

If you thought that it was all about the marathon you would be mostly right, but in case you were not aware, there is a lot more than just an enjoyable 26.2 mile stroll through the streets of Atlanta.

Free Race Entry for the Publix Georgia Marathon

We are just one month away from the Publix Georgia Marathon and just a few short days away from the bitter sweet taper for many would be marathoners.  Race day may be getting close, but there is still a chance to get in on the big day whether it be by hitting the Publix Georgia Marathon Registration Page before the next price increase on February 16th, or by winning the chance to run for free.

If you have not yet registered you can take advantage of the price before it increases in just a couple days, but don’t forget to use the discount code: 262QUEST to receive an additional $10 off the current race entry fees.

Publix Georgia Marathon Race Entry Selection

It has been a few days since the entries closed and so it is time to select a winner for the free Publix Georgia Marathon race entry.  March 18th, aka Race Day, will be here before we know it and thousands of people will be warming up along the streets of Atlanta, ready to take that 26.2 mile journey from being just a goal to a completed reality.

There is still time if you have not yet registered to run either the full or the half marathon.  If you are just now registering don’t forget to use the discount code 262QUEST to take $10 off the current registration price at the Publix Georgia Marathon Registration page.

Options To Run The Publix Georgia Marathon

wilson-solution-ncaa-basketball

In recent announcements it is clear you have many options with both registration and running the Publix Georgia Marathon or one of the other races that day.  Of course you have the option to run free by entering to win the current race entry giveaway right here on 26.2 Quest, but a very cool partnership with the Atlanta Hawks can give you a discount off of the current Publix Georgia Marathon Registration.

When the Hawks win at home, runners benefit with a registration discount. Last night the Hawks won their game against the Portland Trail Blazers in a 92-89 victory which means that if you register today with discount code HAWKS you will get $3 off your registration since the point spread was 3 points.  Further information is available here about the Publix Georgia Marathon Sponsorship with the Atlanta Hawks.

Win a Free Entry To Run The Publix Georgia Marathon

If you were not able to secure your spot to run the Georgia Marathon in one of the past giveaways you have another chance.  With the Publix Georgia Marathon just 2 months away on March 18th I hope you are already training if you want to run the 26.2 miles, but if not this entry will also work if you are more of the half marathon type.

The US Road Sports group has offered yet another lucky runner the opportunity to run the marathon or half marathon for the highly discounted rate of $0.  All you need to do is provide the training and transportation which is the easy part right?

Look Who Is Running The Georgia Marathon For Free!

The Publix Georgia Marathon is quickly approaching and the winner best be already training.  The giveaway started just before Christmas, but the gift of being able to put yourself through torture for 26.2 miles is being given away now.

March 18th will be here before you know it, and those running will be heading through the streets of Atlanta to once again claim victory in the battle against the hilly marathon and half marathon courses.  If you have not yet registered there is plenty of time and you can secure your spot for $10 less than the current rate by using the discount code 262QUEST when signing up.

The Georgia Marathon – Christmas Giveaway

Georgia-Marathon-2012

We are only a short time away from when we start to look at our physique and wonder what we should do about it.  Yes, it is the time of year when the New Years Resolution craze causes gym memberships, even with their high prices, to skyrocket.  Running, on the other hand, is one of the least expensive sports, but it can still offer many of the same benefits that are being sought out during this time of redirection.

While many are looking at their bank accounts to try and figure out how they will pay the trainer next month, the Publix Georgia Marathon wants to give you a chance to focus more on your running and less on how you will pay for it.

What About The Publix Georgia Marathon?

ingmarathon

Many of you have just finished a full marathon, while others of you are merely a week or two a way from your 26.2 mile journey.  For some of you this will be just another marathon, but to many others it was or will be the first after a long yet exciting journey. If you are like many of the others who have made their way to the only finish line with ancient Greek roots, it will only be the first of many more to come.

Do you need a discount or a free entry to fit it into your budget?

Good Luck Boston Runners!

Just a really quick post at the beginning of a very busy week.  Good luck and enjoy to all the Boston Runners!

I know many more people (bloggers) that are running this year and I think it is very cool.  I don't really have any hopes of speeding up that much, but who knows, maybe I will still be running when I am old enough for the qualifying time to get to where I can do it :)

I will leave you will this funny video that was sent to me from Improv Asylum last week.  If you have run a marathon before this all rings too true.

Let's Run The Publix Georgia (Half) Marathon

Let me start by wishing everybody that is running the Publix Georgia Marathon or Half Marathon tomorrow good luck.  And to prove that I am not a Marathon Snob, good luck to everyone else running any other marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k, 1 mile, training run, walking the dog, or any other activity that gets you moving.  It is not important what event you run, or even that you run an event, what is important is to get active and get moving!

Publix Georgia Marathon - The Plan

I feel funny calling this a plan since this is probably the furthest from a plan that I have ever had going into a race.  The plan in a nutshell is, run and enjoy.... with a twist.  The twist is that I am not running the Publix Georgia Marathon, but will in fact be dropping back to the Half Marathon at the Expo.

I have thought about this a long time, called all my lifelines, and yes even polled the audience here, on the 26.2 Quest Fanpage, and even on Daily Mile and I have decided that I will play it safe and drop back to the half marathon distance.  This was not an easy decision and I did flip flops throughout the process that would make any politician jealous, but ultimately I put pride aside and have decided on the 13.1 instead of the 26.2.

Should I Stay or Should I Go?

Well the Publix Georgia Marathon is just two weeks away.  As you well know I have not been able to train for it like I wanted to for many different reasons.  Though there were countless small reasons two main ones have really defined my training during this 26.2 Quest.  The fact that I didn't give myself enough time to train sufficiently, and the resulting injury, became the two biggest reasons why I couldn't train like I wanted to.  Now I find myself with a decision to make, and it is not a fun decision..... Should I Stay, or Should I Go?

I committed later than I should have and so I started serious training late and too far behind in the schedule to catch up adequately. I was confident that it wouldn't be an issue because I have done this before and I know what I need to do to get across the finish line.  That confidence turned out to be my initial step in the wrong direction.

Do You Want To Go See The MY RUN Movie?

I was recently talking to my kids about the upcoming March 31st showing of the MY RUN movie.  As I explained the movie and the fact that I would be going to see it my daughter Payton started begging me to take her with me.  I figured she would be interested in going, but I had no idea how much interest she would have.

I've Committed to the Publix Georgia Marathon

If you have been following my training lately you would more inclined to say that I need to be committed for registering to run the Publix Georgia Marathon, rather than that I have committed to run the Publix Georgia Marathon.

The Publix Georgia Marathon, previously known as the ING Georgia Marathon, will be running through the streets of Atlanta and surrounding area on March 20th, 2011.  If I am doing my math correctly that is just 46 days away from today.  I am feverishly looking for a full marathon training plan, including a full taper (gotta have it!) that can be completed in 45 days (I am thinking about taking tomorrow off) so if you can help me with that it would be greatly appreciated!

Reflecting on my marathon training and preparation

Now that I am about a week past my second marathon, The Soldier Marathon, and I have had time to reflect on the marathon, the training, and the preparation I need to put into writing what I think I did right, and what I may not have done so well.  What about my training would I have changed, and what worked in that last week of preparation and what didn't?

When I started this marathon training back in July I made some plans on what I was going to do.  I told everyone that I wanted to lose 20 lbs from the current 183 that I was.  If I told you I met that goal, or even tried very hard I would be lying.  I am currently the same that I was on that very optimistic day back in the middle of summer, and yet I am now facing the unforgiving "They plump when you cook em" holidays.  This doesn't change the fact that I still want to do something about it, it is just not the best time of year to set that goal in motion.  Last year for my first marathon I weighed only 177.
