This morning being a running morning I had every intention of getting up and running, regardless of the weather, but when I got up this morning and it was still going with a sleet/rain mix I started coming up with excuses. I figured I could go to the gym and run the dreadmill, but easily convinced myself that if it was too bad outside to run, it was also too bad to drive to the gym.
Here is where the "almost" comes in. At 4:50, I put all rationalization aside and started getting dressed to run in this weather. By 5:05 I was out the door and it was nowhere near as bad as I expected it to be. The 33 degrees kept the road from freezing so I had nothing to worry about as far as ice went. My run went really good with only occasional rain enough for me to even notice. It did start raining more during mile 6, but all in all it was a very pleasant 10k.
Next time I need to not be so quick with the excuses.
Nice job not giving in to your excuses. Hey, I have a pair of homemade winter trainers (old running shoes with sheet metal screws in the soles) if you ever need to borrow them. What size you wear? LOL :-)
ReplyDeleteI've actually used them twice up here this winter so far and they've worked out fabulously. Have a good one, Tim.
Ah, I bet those are a sight. Being that I grew up in the north I fully understand, however at that time I was not a runner!
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Tim!!! Congrats on overcoming the "I don't wannas" and making it out. Today is a scheduled rest day because I'm doing my LSR tomorrow but gosh, I'm itching to get out there.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to listen to my good friend, Rick (maybe) and stay inside (maybe) and drink hot chocolate (definitely!!).
Glad to hear you had a good run...I'm jealous:)
Hey Tim,
ReplyDeleteI did eventually make it out this afternoon but don't tell Rick..shhhh:)
I was nervous I might find some icy patches but as it was 34 degrees at 3pm, I figured I was safe.
Hope you guys aren't iced over tomorrow! They've already called a 2 hour delay for the kids here..ugh!
So, Mar, not jealous anymore huh? I am sure Rick won't find out!
ReplyDeleteThat was one of my concerns this morning (finding ice patches), but I didn't find a one... good thing!
It has cleared up pretty good here, it is in the lower 40's and no chance of school being out tomorrow. They are calling for more snow over the next couple days though. Get ready for it your way, it looks like you got it worse this time so you probably will again this time.
Good to hear you were able to go for a run!
Way to get out there, I hate winter running but am usually able to get it done one way or another.
ReplyDeleteI just don't know how I would be if I actually lived up north somewhere. I am sure I would get it done, but then again I would be more used to it. I kinda like living where the weather is good most of the year for running.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by!
