6 Miler - Not as easy

It was not as easy to get out the door for my run this morning. I have been very busy at work and have been bringing a lot of work home lately. I didn't have any trouble getting up, but am just mentally exhausted so it was more of a mental battle to get out the door.

But.... I did it, I got out the door and it is never as bad as it seems it is going to be. It wasn't the easiest run, but was still good. Now, I have got my run out of the way this morning, and I can get back to work and back to the grindstone. But, all the while today I can look forward to going to see The Spirit of the Marathon tonight. I am really looking forward to it.

This morning was also tough because as many of you know I have been on a weight loss journey for over a year now, and have done better than I could ever hope to do, but this past week hasn't been looking like I will lose anything. This is kinda discouraging, because all I hope for is 1 lb a week now that I am closer to my goal. The discouraging part is that I have been working out hard, running more, and eating good, but not seeing the results. I know I am just discouraged because of all that is going on right now is just putting a lot on my shoulders, but this is one of the places that gets me down easily I guess.

Oh, well, I am running behind, need to get to work!

  1. Great job getting past the "mental wall" and getting out this morning Tim. As far as the weight loss goes, I know people hit a plateau at some point and the last few pounds are tough to shed as part of their goal. You're still doing the right things so, chin up, you've come a long way my running friend. Keep up the good work!

    Thanks for the encouragement. I really do "know" all that, and have been through all that at one point or another (or many) over the past year. This morning was just a rough morning for me because of all the junk of life catching up with me.

    Just before I went to bed last night I got hit with something that I will not go into, but sent my stress level high. That being the case I didn't sleep well, and then woke up at my regular 4:15 to that and all the other "problems" going on right now. Since it all hit me, it just elevated everything to where I started feeling down about everything and lost a lot of motivation.

    Once I got myself out the door the run didn't go really good, I was slower than I wanted to be, and my legs started to ache in places where I thought I was done with injuries. Not to mention, I was hungry by mile 2, and I am never hungry when running. Then I got home and got busy and got off to work late.

    All that being said (much more than you wanted to hear I am sure) the day is looking up. I DID go do my run, even though I didn't feel like it. Work is going good today. The aching in my legs went away as soon as I finished my run. And I am looking forward to going to see The Spirit of the Marathon tonight.

    Tomorrow will be better - I don't have to run :) But then again - so will Saturday because I do get to run :)

  3. Two comments--first, re: the movie, I say "YIPPEEYAHOOIE!!!" Can't wait for tonight!

    Second, re: your weight loss--your pound per week goal is good. Not too agressive, and that's what 'the experts' recommend anyway. Don't get discouraged! Your body will naturally hit plateaus, but you've just got to push through it. Whatever you do, don't give up! Rick and I will both be watching you...HA HA HA!!!
