This race is kinda important to me, and I am really looking forward to it. Last year at this time I had only been running for a short time, just over a month. I had just started to lose weight and finally felt that I could maybe actually run and not just walk. This race last year was my first race. It was a hard course with a lot of hills, and I ended up walking a lot of the hills, but I finished it. It is actually kinda funny, because I came in dead last in this race, not by far, but still dead last.
Last year my time was 36:37, I am hoping that this year I can do a little better :).
I was a bit concerned I was not going to be able to run it this year because of some scheduling conflicts that came about in the last few weeks, but it looks like things have worked out and I will be able to run.
WOW! How incredibly cool that you're running your first 5k... again. Congrats dude. That's a great milestone.
ReplyDeleteI signed up for the Hickory Knob Sprint triathlon in SC on Oct 11th, when I'll be back in the states. Wanna join me? It would be fun getting to meet you in person.
Blessings - William
Very cool, I'm sure you will Rock it. Rob at I Dare has the same kind of milestone coming up. He's lost 70lbs since last year's race and is looking forward to running it again. Very cool. You've come so far!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this Saturday! It's neat that you'll be running your inaugural race again, this time much more prepared and svelte. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel a PB coming on :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how far you have come in a year! Good Luck! Enjoy the race.
LOL- you are going to bust that time out of the water.
ReplyDeleteGood luck Tim!

ReplyDeleteI would like to come over and run the race that you are running.
We utilized Georgia Pines with Glenn when we brought him home frmo Dallas.
I will post to my blog (if I can locate it) the problems he had when we adopted him. I am very thankful for org's like Georgia Pines!!
That has got to be rather exciting actually. I'll be looking forward to your race report!
ReplyDeleteThanks all for your comments.
ReplyDeleteWilliam - you know - if I can find a bike I may be up for that. I really want to do a tri, and I could be ready by then.... if I had a bike. :)
Yea - I am really looking forward to this run... because it was my first so it holds a special place in my heart.
PB - here I come :)
Alan - come on over... not sure where you are from but would love to have you! It is a small race, last year was it's first year.... like me!

ReplyDeleteI am only about 15 minutes from there as I live in the Grayson/Loganville area. I used to live about 5 minutes from there right around the corner off of Arnold road.
Maybe I will see you there. I am supposed to do a longish run tomorrow so maybe I will run the race and then add some mileage on.
Very cool - hope to see you there - I will be the bald one :) I may be able to also get my family up and at it with me as well. If so I will be the one hanging out with the two red head girls and a little boy.
ReplyDeleteMy long runs many times take me down Arnold road - a very small world it is.
I need to do the same thing, as tomorrow is a long run day for me as well.
See you then! :)
What an awesome achievement! You will do FANTASTIC! And there is no doubt in my mind that you will do better than last year.
ReplyDeleteSorry I didn't make it over Tim. Dinner with friends after Glenn's ball game last night and then a late night of having to work on my truck when we got home last night helped my brain tell me I couldn't run a race this morning. I was up early enough but vegging on the couch with Glenn.
ReplyDeleteHope it went well.
Sorry you couldn't make it Alan! It was a blast!
ReplyDeleteI just posted my race report.... you really missed out!
